Terms of Service

Book Director Studio (“the Service”) is operated by Aliduck Adventures LLC (“we”, “us”). When you create an account you check a box affirming the following, and we record that acceptance:

“I have read and agree to the Book Director Studio Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and AI Content Policy.”

That box is not pre-checked, and the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and AI Content Policy are linked beside it. If we materially change these terms, we’ll ask you to review and accept the updated version before you continue. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service. These terms are version terms-2026-06-14.

The Service turns manuscripts you provide into AI-narrated audio: it parses your text into a production script, lets you cast synthetic voices, renders the performance, and exports audiobook files. Every narration produced here is synthetic — no human narrators are recorded.

Sign-in is through Google only; you’re responsible for the security of your Google account and for activity under your studio account. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.

Production is metered in credit-minutes of generated audio, charged against your balance and rounded up to the nearest minute. New accounts receive 60 trial credit-minutes that expire 30 days after signup.

Paid subscriptions (currently $29, $99, and $199 per month) grant monthly credits; one-time top-ups add more. Payments, when live, are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number. Unused subscription credits roll over for 90 days. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise or the Service materially failed to deliver what you paid for.

Failed renders are not charged: a render reserves an estimated number of minutes and settles against the audio actually produced, refunding the difference.

You keep all rights to the manuscripts, cover art, metadata, pronunciation notes, character notes, and other materials you upload or enter into the Service (“Your Content”).

You grant Book Director Studio a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, copy, parse, transform, process, render, display, and otherwise use Your Content solely as needed to provide the Service to you — including manuscript parsing, speaker and chapter detection, pronunciation handling, audiobook generation, audio export, quality checks, account support, and storing your projects and generated files. This license does not allow us to sell Your Content, publish it for our own purposes, or use it to train AI models.

You represent and warrant that:

• You own Your Content, or you have obtained all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents needed to upload it to the Service and use it to generate AI-narrated audiobook files.
• You have the necessary audio, audiobook, adaptation, reproduction, distribution, public performance, and commercialization rights for your intended use of the generated audio.
• Your Content and your use of the Service will not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy right, publicity right, contractual right, publishing agreement, distribution agreement, audiobook agreement, or other right of any person or entity.
• If Your Content includes third-party material, public-domain material, licensed material, co-authored material, ghostwritten material, translated material, commissioned work, cover art, illustrations, music, lyrics, names, likenesses, or other protected material, you have confirmed that your rights are sufficient for AI audio generation and your intended publication or distribution.
• You will not upload content or request audio generation in a way that violates law, misleads listeners about material facts, impersonates a real person, or uses a real person’s voice, name, likeness, or identity without any required permission.

You are solely responsible for Your Content, for confirming your rights, and for deciding where and how to publish or distribute any generated audio. Book Director Studio does not verify ownership of Your Content and does not provide legal clearance, copyright review, publisher approval, platform approval, or distribution approval.

Each time you upload or import a manuscript, and again when you parse it, you certify the following (we record each certification):

“I certify that I own or control the rights to this manuscript and any uploaded cover art, metadata, images, or other materials, or that I have obtained all permissions and licenses needed to upload them to Book Director Studio and generate AI-narrated audiobook files from them. I understand that I am responsible for my content and for complying with any publisher, platform, retailer, or rights-holder requirements.”

As between you and Book Director Studio, you own the audio files generated from Your Content, and you may use, publish, sell, license, distribute, and commercialize those files, subject to these Terms and the rights you have in Your Content.

Book Director Studio does not claim ownership of your manuscript or the generated audiobook files created from your manuscript. We do not use your manuscript or generated audio to train AI models.

You are responsible for confirming that you have all rights required for your intended use of the generated audio, including any rights required by audiobook retailers, distributors, publishers, co-authors, illustrators, narrators, estates, licensors, or other rights holders. Retailers and distribution platforms may have their own rules for AI-narrated content, disclosure, technical specifications, metadata, pricing, and eligibility. Book Director Studio can help generate and export audio files, but we do not guarantee acceptance by any retailer or platform. When you export, you acknowledge:

“I understand that Book Director Studio prepares technical audio files but does not guarantee acceptance by Audible, ACX, Apple, Google Play, Spotify, Findaway, or any other platform.”

Some jurisdictions may grant limited or no copyright protection to material generated wholly by AI. Nothing in these Terms is legal advice or a guarantee that any generated audio file will qualify for copyright registration or protection — see the AI content policy.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Book Director Studio, Aliduck Adventures LLC, and our owners, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from or related to:

• Your Content;
• your use or publication of generated audio;
• your violation of these Terms;
• your violation of any law, platform rule, publishing agreement, distribution agreement, or third-party right; or
• any claim that Your Content or generated audio infringes, misappropriates, or violates someone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy right, publicity right, contractual right, or other right.

We may control the defense of any claim covered by this section, and you agree to cooperate with us. You may not settle any claim in a way that imposes obligations on us without our written consent.

Don’t use the Service to produce content that is unlawful, infringes someone else’s rights, impersonates a real person’s voice or identity, or is designed to deceive listeners about material facts. We may suspend accounts that do.

Manuscript text is processed by Google’s Vertex AI models to produce your script and audio. Your manuscripts are never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s. Processing happens on infrastructure configured so that your content is used only to generate your output.

The Service is early-access software built by a small team. Features may change, and we don’t promise uninterrupted availability. We publish what changed — including what broke — on the changelog.

You can stop using the Service at any time; email us to close your account and we’ll delete it per the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical and a refund of unused paid credits where the violation wasn’t willful.

The Service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data — keep your manuscript originals.

If we change these terms materially we’ll note it on the changelog, update the date at the top of this page, and ask you to review and accept the updated terms before you continue using the Service.

These terms are governed by the laws of [Idaho, USA — to be confirmed by counsel], excluding its conflict-of-law rules.
