What we collect
Your Google profile — name, email address, and profile photo — via Firebase Authentication when you sign in. There are no studio passwords.
Your creative work — manuscripts you paste, the parsed scripts and casting choices, and the audio the Service generates from them.
Plan and credit records — your plan, credit balance, and a ledger of credit grants and charges. When payments go live, billing runs through Stripe; we store a Stripe customer reference, never card numbers.
Basic operational data — server logs and timestamps needed to run and debug the Service. We don’t run advertising trackers.
Legal acceptance records — when you accept our Terms, Privacy Policy, AI Content Policy, manuscript-rights certification, or export acknowledgements, we store the text shown to you, document versions, timestamp, account identifier, email, IP address, user agent, and related project or file details such as book ID, file name, and file hash where applicable.
How we use it
To provide the Service: parse your manuscripts, render your audio, maintain your credit balance, and answer your support email. That’s the list. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
Where your data lives
Data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore for records, Cloud Storage for audio) in the United States, encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is restricted to the small team operating the Service.
Who else touches it
Google Cloud hosts the Service and runs the Vertex AI models that process your manuscripts. Stripe will process payments when billing goes live. Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
AI processing of your manuscripts
Manuscript text is sent to Google Vertex AI to produce your production script and narration. It is used only to generate your output and is never used to train AI models — the same promise made on our homepage, kept in our infrastructure configuration.
Retention and deletion
Your books and audio stay until you delete them. Deleting a book from the studio removes its source text and records immediately, and its audio files within 24 hours.
Account deletion isn’t self-serve yet (honesty over polish): email hello@bookdirectorstudio.com and we’ll delete your account and its data within 30 days, confirming when done.
Some records are kept longer. To meet legal, accounting, and compliance obligations — and to maintain evidence of the agreements you accepted — we may retain legal acceptance records, transaction and billing records, and similar logs after you delete a book or close your account, for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes. These are kept apart from your creative work, which is deleted as described above.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email the address above. Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), these may be legal rights; we honor the requests regardless of jurisdiction.
Children
The Service isn’t directed at children and requires an adult account holder. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
