Everything narrated here is AI
Every voice in the Service is synthetic. No human narrator is recorded, sampled, or imitated in producing your audiobook. The parsing of your manuscript — finding characters, splitting dialogue, drafting performance notes — is also done by AI models, under your direction and review.
Your manuscript stays yours
Manuscript text is processed by Google Vertex AI models solely to produce your production script and audio. It is never used to train models — ours, Google’s, or anyone else’s. The full data-handling details are in the privacy policy.
Where the voices come from
Our voice library is built on licensed text-to-speech voices from Google’s speech platforms. They are designed voices, not clones of identifiable people, and no narrator’s performance was appropriated to create them.
We don’t offer voice cloning — you can’t upload or clone a real person’s voice here. If we ever add it, it would require documented, revocable consent from the person whose voice is used, with no exceptions.
Disclosing AI narration
We recommend disclosing AI narration wherever you publish — listeners respect honesty, and several retail platforms require it. Audiobook and podcast platforms (Audible/ACX, Spotify, Findaway, and others) each set their own rules about AI-narrated content, and those rules change; checking them before you publish is your responsibility.
AI watermarking (SynthID)
All audio generated here is watermarked with Google’s SynthID — an imperceptible marker woven into the audio that lets detection tools identify it as AI-generated. Every voice in the library runs on Google’s Gemini speech model, which applies SynthID, and we don’t strip AI watermarks from the files we produce. AI-detection and disclosure rules are still evolving, so check each platform’s requirements before you publish.
What you can’t make here
Content that impersonates a real person’s voice or identity; deceptive media intended to mislead listeners about real events or statements; unlawful content; or content that infringes someone else’s rights. We may suspend accounts producing it, per the terms.
Ownership and copyright, plainly
As between you and Book Director Studio, the audio generated from your manuscript is yours to use commercially, subject to the rights you have in your content. One honest caveat: copyright law for AI-generated works is unsettled, and some jurisdictions (including the United States, for works lacking human authorship) may grant purely machine-generated audio limited or no copyright protection. Your underlying manuscript remains protected as your writing; the audio’s status can vary. When the stakes are high, ask a lawyer — this page isn’t one.
Reporting misuse
If you believe content produced with the Service impersonates you, infringes your rights, or is being used deceptively, write to hello@bookdirectorstudio.com. A person reads it, and we act on credible reports.
